India containerized scrap import prices continued to remain flat week-on-week at $393 a ton CFR Nharva Sheva port in the week ended September 19, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

According to TSI, containerized shredded index for Indian imports remained flat at $393 a ton (CFR Nhava Sheva port), with finished steel production in the country remaining subdued.

Offers from suppliers remained stable at around $390-395 a ton for shredded, although there was little serious interest shown from mills.

Mills are currently meeting their scrap needs via the domestic market, and are consequently largely staying away from the import market.
