According to latest data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the country’s CRC imports declined sharply during the month of April this year. Turkey imported 57,648 tons of CRC in April, 30.94% lower when compared with the imports during a year before. The imports fell nearly 15% from the previous month.

The CRC imports generated $40.41 million during the month. This is 30.42% down when compared with the imports during April last year. The imports during April 2013 had generated total revenue amounting to $58.08 million. Also, the import revenues during Apr ’14 fell by 12.32% when compared with the total revenue of $46.10 million generated during March this year.

The main exporter of CRC to turkey during April this year was Russia. The CRC imports from Russia totaled 35,819 tons, constituting over 60% of the total CRC imports by Turkey during the month. The other major exporting countries during the month were Spain (4,183 tons), Ukraine (3,821 tons) and Belgium (3,519 tons).

The CRC imports by the country during the initial four-month period of this year totaled 252,291 tons, 13% higher when compared with the previous year. The import value too climbed 12% higher from a year ago to $174.21 million during Jan-Apr ’14. The major suppliers of CRC to Turkey during the four-month period were Russia (105,380 tons), Ukraine (46,547 tons), Spain (26,278 tons) and Belgium (22,036 tons).
